HDB apologises for wrong info on inspection notice

The Housing Board will look to improve its process of relaying updated information to residents after a recent incident.

The Housing and Development Board (HDB) this week apologised to residents for the wrong information relayed by its staff member regarding a notice on periodic structural inspection.

The statement comes after a resident called on the agency to check if the said notice was legitimate, on which the staff member mistakenly replied that there was no such inspection.

In clarifying that the notice was “not a scam”, the HDB said its appointed consultant will instead show residents a copy of the notice when asking for permission to enter their unit for inspection, reported Channel NewsAsia.

“We apologise for the mistake and for causing unnecessary alarm. We will improve our process so that our staff manning our hotlines can provide residents with the most updated information,” it added.
